This month we will feature the appendices of the Overeaters Anonymous 3rd edition. Also known as the “brown book”. Our brown book contains 40 stories of recovery from fellow sufferers. The appendices contains our own “Doctor’s Opinion”. I have included the link for the appendices here: https://oa.org/app/uploads/2019/12/Overeaters-Anonymous-Third-Edition_Forewords-and-Appendices.pdf
The Brown Book appendix gives the opinion of a registered dietitian, psychiatrist, physician, and reverend with regard to eating disorders being a disease of body, mind and spirit.

March 2020

12 stepping a Problem $0.50
This pocket reference helps us to see our powerlessness over each troubling person,
situation or outcome. It takes us through a series of questions to help us turn any problem
over to our HP and move on.
Carrying the Message $0.50
Our primary purpose is to carry the OA message to those who still suffer. This pocket reference
gives us a list of Do’s and Don’ts for working our fifth tradition. Working with others is a vital
part of our program. “Particularly was it imperative to work with others as he had worked with
me… for if an alcoholic failed to perfect and enlarge his spiritual life through work and self-
sacrifice for others, he could not survive the certain trials and low spots ahead” (page 14
Alcoholics Anonymous 4th edition). “Practical experience shows that nothing will so much
insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics. It works when other
activities fail” (page 89 Alcoholics Anonymous 4th edition).
A Guide for Sponsoring $0.85
I referenced the necessity of working with others above. Yet, we can allow fear and self doubt to keep us from working with others especially in sponsoring. This pamphlet gives us directions on taking our fellow sufferers through the steps, explains what our role as a sponsor is and much more.

February 2020
Our feature this month is the Region 4 Journal
Our Region 4 Journal is a wonderful tool to plan your meals and to write your nightly inventory. On page 86, in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, it suggests a nightly review: “When we retire at night we constructively review our day….” Our nightly inventory can help us to catch small resentments and fears before they become big ones.
On page 66 in the Big Book it states, “…this business of resentment is infinitely grave. We found that it is fatal. For when harboring such feelings we shut ourselves off from the sunlight of the Spirit. The insanity of alcohol returns and we drink again.” This tool sets us up for success and helps to clear the things which may be blocking us from our Higher Power.
The Region 4 Journal costs $10. You can pick one up at the inter group office during the Monday evening or Saturday morning meeting. You can also contact the literature coordinator 316-393-0996 to purchase one.
